The first time Comber Rifle Club hosted benchrest shooting in a major competition was in 2010 at the Comber open shoot as far as i know this was the first time benchrest was included in a major competition. We were delighted with the result there were 30 entries for benchrest and a total of over 100 shooters and a very good safe and enjoyable day was had by all.The benchrest shooters came from a number of clubs from all over the country some even brought their own personalised benches.Since then benchrest has gone from strength to strength not only at Comber but at many other clubs. We were complimented for introducing benchrest shooting to the Comber open on Sat.26-3-2011 we hosted an I.S.S.F. shoot and as an after thought at very short notice decided to add a benchrest shoot for our own members there were 20 entries for I.S.S.F.and 14 for benchrest The future for benchrest shooting is very promising and will continue to grow in numbers and popularity.
